EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a gentle yet powerful therapy approach that supports healing from trauma and emotionally overwhelming experiences. Instead of needing to repeatedly talk through the details of what happened, EMDR helps your brain reprocess difficult memories so they feel less distressing and no longer have the same hold over your present life.

After experiencing trauma, it’s common to feel like certain memories, emotions, or reactions are “stuck” and continue to impact your life. You may notice that your mind and body respond as though the experience is still happening, even when you know you are safe now. EMDR helps you gently process these experiences so they feel less overwhelming and you can move forward with a greater sense of calm and control.

EMDR Therapy can help with:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Childhood trauma and difficult past experiences

  • Phobias and fears

  • Grief and loss

  • Stress and emotional overwhelm

  • Negative beliefs about yourself (e.g., shame, guilt, low self-worth)

  • Distressing memories that continue to impact your life

EMDR can also support individuals who are struggling with experiences that may not feel like “trauma” but continue to have a significant emotional impact, such as painful memories, repeated patterns, or moments that shaped how they see themselves and the world.

My Approach

EMDR therapy is a collaborative and client-centered process that is tailored to your unique experiences, needs, and goals. Healing from difficult experiences happens at your own pace, and my role is to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout the process.

As a virtual psychotherapy practice, EMDR therapy is available to clients across Ontario, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Virtual EMDR can be just as effective as in-person sessions, while offering the flexibility and convenience of receiving care wherever you feel most comfortable.

Together, we will work through each phase of EMDR while ensuring you feel prepared, grounded, and comfortable. You remain in control of the process at all times; we will move at a pace that feels manageable and make adjustments along the way based on what you need.

My approach to EMDR focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, compassion, and collaboration. Through this supportive process, we can work toward reducing the emotional impact of distressing memories, strengthening your sense of safety, and helping you reconnect with a greater sense of balance and well-being.
