My Services
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. It helps people identify negative or unhelpful thoughts they may have, and then work on changing those thoughts to improve their emotions and actions. CBT is practical and goal-oriented, and it’s often used to treat conditions like anxiety, depression, and stress.
Therapy for Self-Esteem
Self-esteem is the foundation of how we view ourselves and interact with the world around us. When our self-esteem is low, we may struggle with feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt, and difficulty in forming healthy relationships. Therapy for self-esteem is a compassionate, empowering process that helps individuals rebuild their confidence, recognize their worth, and create a more positive self-image.
Therapy for Anxiety and Depression
Anxiety is constant worry about things that haven’t happened yet, while depression brings deep sadness and makes everyday tasks feel draining. Therapy for anxiety and depression helps you understand and manage overwhelming emotions by identifying causes and teaching coping strategies. It offers a safe space to challenge negative thoughts, build resilience, and create healthier habits.
Therapy for Trauma and PTSD
Traumatic experiences are often shocking and overwhelming, leaving us feeling helpless, out of control, and disconnected from our surroundings. Whether the trauma is sudden or ongoing, it can create lasting emotional pain and confusion. Therapy provides a safe space to process those painful memories, address the emotional distress they cause, and work toward regaining a sense of control and stability.
Therapy for Grief and Loss
Therapy for grief and loss is for anyone struggling to cope with the death of a loved one, a major life change, or any type of loss. The therapy focuses on processing emotions, honoring memories, and finding ways to heal, while providing support through feelings of sadness, anger, or confusion. It often includes talking through your grief, learning healthy coping strategies, and gradually finding new ways to move forward.
EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful therapy for those dealing with trauma, anxiety, and distressing memories. It’s based on the idea that when we experience trauma, our brain sometimes has trouble processing and storing those memories in a healthy way. When something bad happens, our brain can sometimes get stuck on the memory; EMDR helps "unstick" those memories.
Therapy for First Responders and their Partners
First responders face unique challenges that can significantly impact their mental health and well-being. From high-stress situations to the emotional toll of their work, these professionals often struggle with issues like trauma, burnout, and stigma surrounding mental health. This stigma can make it particularly difficult for first responders to seek the help they need.
In our work together, we will address the specific stressors first responders face, including ethical dilemmas, confidentiality concerns, and effective communication strategies. I also use specialized therapeutic techniques to help process trauma and build resilience.
One of the approaches I use is the PEACE Resilience Model, which is designed to help first responders cope with emotional strain. This model focuses on stress management, education, and long-term emotional recovery, all tailored to the unique demands of the job.
I also recognize that the impact of this work extends beyond the first responder themselves. The relationships and families of first responders can also be deeply affected. In therapy, I provide support for partners and families, offering interventions and stress management tools to help them cope with the challenges of living alongside someone in this high-demand profession.
It’s essential to recognize that each individual carries their own set of challenges, which may extend beyond the pressures of being part of the first responder’s world. Everyone has a distinct story, and I’m here to support you, whether you're a first responder or a family member, in navigating these complexities.
